Stretching The Imagination activities can be enjoyed in anything from one-on-one sessions to full classrooms.
The key purpose of this resource is to improve well-being by the stretching and exercising of imagination and creativity. Sadly, the freeing of imagination and creativity are seldom mentioned as essential ingredients in the improvement of well-being. More seldom still is the understanding that there is a direct link between imagination and empathy…the foundation of humanity.
The engaging simplicity of the activities belies their depth and benefit. In the hands of educators, comfortable in talking with kids and interested in what lies beneath the surface of answers, suggestions, opinions, thoughts and ideas, these activities will serve to hone the critical thinking skills of students and excite their curiosity to learn about others and themselves. In short, they bolster well-being.
Although designed for classrooms or small groups in 15-40 minute weekly sessions, this resource can be easily utilised in an online or remote learning scenario. You will find it easy to move the social and emotional learning between the home and classroom setting.
The key nutrients of well-being are conversation, connection, community, curiosity, creativity and imagination. This resource brings students together to imaginatively explore situations and scenarios that build self-understanding and empathy.
With notes, insights and techniques to support the facilitator and maximise the benefits of the activities, Stretching The Imagination will give even the most experienced educator tools to add to their toolbox.
